Job Description

Job Purpose

Enable the company to become a preferred contractor / ESCO in the energy efficiency & optimization business domain. Responsible for sales and profitability growth across the business sectors and geographical locations within the UAE.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide the vision, organizational strategy, and focus to implement the Energy Program for advancing energy management efforts throughout the portfolio, including energy conservation programs.
  • Provide leadership for the portfolio-wide energy management plans and integrate the processes into facilities and project management operations.
  • Serve as the internal leader and go-to expert for energy management, monitoring emerging trends, programs, and issues, and communicating and educating others on relevant topics.
  • Evaluate energy options, present recommendations, and implement programs for reducing energy and utility usage and associated costs.
  • Maintain knowledge of available energy and utility incentive programs, analyze projects in relation to total life cost, and prepare proposals for presentation to clients.
  • Facilitate a portfolio-wide energy benchmarking program.
  • Work with facilities managers and chief building engineers to ensure the highest possible scores are achieved.
  • Maintain the property’s ENERGY STAR label and other desired standards as per compliance.
  • Utilize the utility data tracker for utility usage across the portfolio and identify energy outliers.
  • Develop conservation plans to address high energy users.
  • Stay current with applicable codes, laws, and requirements to ensure regulatory compliance and effective management of risk and liability.
  • Develop energy conservation initiatives.
  • Develop management routines with engineering, facility, and project management teams, including participation in standing meetings and reporting requirements.
  • Develop long-term operational strategies.
  • Heavy client interaction required.
  • Consistently monitor the installed infrastructure to identify areas where energy is wasted or efficiency needs improvement.
  • Analyze utility usage to develop conservation projects.
  • Create and monitor utility budgets, including calculating existing energy costs and potential savings for projects.
  • Prepare budgets, reports, and cost estimates, along with recommendations, and advise management towards achieving the goal of optimizing business profitability.

Finance Scope

The incumbent has a high level of responsibility or authority to prepare financial or budgetary data, such as proposals and BOQs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HVAC &/or Building Controls &/or ESPC experience (in ESCO).
  • Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) &/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is desirable.
  • 5-7 years' experience in engineering and energy savings calculations for performance contracting.
  • 5-7 years' knowledge and practice of M&V protocols and guidelines (like FEMP and IPMVP).

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience in a similar industry.
  • Experience with HVAC/HVAC Engineering desired, including building controls and management systems.
  • Effective face-to-face and virtual presentation, influencing, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide sound and reliable judgment in business solutions.
  • Sound business acumen, including resource management, cash flows, conflict resolution, and contract management.
  • Ability to set up tasks, document, and work collaboratively in a physical and/or online team environment with local and global partners.
  • Strong organization and planning skills, including electronic file and email management.
  • Very good hands-on practice in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data analytics skills.
  • Experience with building energy simulation software programs such as Trane Trace, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, etc.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Functional knowledge about the workings of an energy management company / ESCO.
  • Good understanding of engineering, design skills and concepts, and M&V.
  • Good interpersonal skills in maintaining business relationships with clients.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
